HOW TO FORM A NEW CLUB

1. APPLICATION - Any Rugby Football Club situated in Southern California which desires membership of the Union must first be in membership with a constituted body, i.e. a LAU. Each application for membership shall be transmitted through said LAU. Contact the SCRFU Representative for your division and inform them of your intentions.

Petition SCRFU for acceptance into the union as a probationary club via a formal letter to your division representative and the LAU President. The recommendation of the LAU must be endorsed in the application, which should reach the Secretary of the Southern California Rugby Football Union before May 1, in order to have the applicant club eligible for the ensuing year. Any application for membership by a club or group of clubs situated outside Southern California shall be sent directly to the Secretary of the Union, with such information as to its status and fixtures as the Committee may require.
2. PROBATION - The SCRFU Policies and Procedures state that new clubs must complete a one year probation. A probationary club will not be considered part of SCRFU until such club has fullfilled the financial responsibilities of the SCRFU. A probationary club must also fulfill all requirements as a full club member concerning the SCRFU Constitution, Bylaws, Policies and Procedures. Probationary clubs may be responsible for scheduling their own matches, termed “friendlies”. Please contact your representative for assistance in scheduling friendlies. 3. CIPP- Each SCRFU player must be a registered member of the USA Rugby CIPP program in any match. CIPP applications are available online at www.usarugby.org. CIPP’ed Check the policies and procedures for specific CIPP requirements for your division.
4. MEDICAL INSURANCE - Every player on the match roster will show proof of medical insurance prior to each match. This proof shall also be shown and verified prior to any SCRFU sanctioned tournaments.
5. SCRFU ID - Each Adult player on the roster shall have a SCRFU Online IdentificationCard. This includes a picture of the player, and shows the player’s immigration status for purposes of the foreign player eligibility requirements.
